In response to the growing need for inclusive economic opportunities, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has introduced the Udyam Sakhi Portal, a comprehensive digital platform designed to assist women in launching, building, and expanding their own businesses. The portal currently stands as a one‑stop resource, offering guidance on various financial schemes such as the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and other support measures.
According to a written statement by Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje in the Rajya Sabha, the portal has successfully registered 4,535 women entrepreneurs as of the latest update.
Launched in 2018, the initiative was created with an investment of approximately ₹43.52 lakh. It follows a broader objective: to foster self-reliance and gender equity in entrepreneurship by equipping women with detailed information and access to government-backed schemes aimed at jumpstarting their ventures.
