On 25 November 2025, as dusk fell across Spain, the streets of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, San Sebastián and more were awash in purple , the symbolic color of resistance against gender violence. Thousands marched under banners reading “Not one more,” “No más violencia machista,” and “Your hypocrisy is violence,” demanding justice, protection, and systemic change. The marches, some organised by long-standing feminist groups and others by newer collectives, carried both grief and rage , memories of the 39 women killed this year alone, and frustration at what many see as political and institutional neglect.

In Madrid, two parallel marches underscored divisions within the movement , one by the traditional Comisión 8M, another by emerging feminist coalitions critical of institutional politics. Yet, the overwhelming mood was solidarity. Among chants, drums, and candles, women survivors and allies voiced their pain, fear, and resolve. In Valencia and Barcelona, youth groups linked gender violence with broader issues: economic inequality, migration, racism, and rising conservative backlash. The message was loud and clear , this is not just about individual crimes, but systemic oppression.

As night deepened, vigil-like silence often replaced chants: moments of remembrance for victims, moments of solidarity for survivors, moments of silence for a society still wrestling with machismo, denialism, and impunity. For many Spaniards, 25 November 2025 became a collective acknowledgement: enough waiting, enough silence, enough loss. The movement is no longer just about awareness , it’s about demanding concrete change, accountability, and a safer future for women.
