In a landmark initiative unveiled on March 8, 2025, two leading trade organizations came together to launch an ambitious mission: to economically and socially empower 500,000 women entrepreneurs across India in the coming year.

A Gathering with Purpose

The announcement took place at a major National Women Entrepreneurs Conclave, hosted by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi. The event drew a vibrant crowd of over 10,000 women, many from everyday backgrounds, all eager to embrace entrepreneurial opportunities.

Who’s Who and Their Vision

  • The announcement was made by a prominent leader from one of the organizing bodies, under the mentorship of a former union minister.
  • The event was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, who lauded the collaboration and reaffirmed its alignment with India’s broader goals of women’s empowerment and inclusive growth.

A Bold Path for Direct Selling

At the event, a compelling vision was shared: to boost the direct selling industry’s value from around ₹25,000 crore to ₹2 lakh crore over the next eight years. To kickstart this transformation, eight leading companies will each support a selected woman entrepreneur with a grant of ₹1,08,000.

Driving Digital & Financial Inclusion

The initiative is designed to integrate with key government programs like ‘Lakhpati Didi’, ensuring access to financial support. It will also leverage the infrastructure of Common Service Centres (CSCs) under the Ministry of Electronics & IT to broaden digital and financial inclusion across India.

Rallying for Change

Leaders at the event emphasized that this initiative isn’t just about numbers—it’s a movement toward self-reliance, financial independence, and inclusive growth. The tone of the gathering highlighted a shared commitment to nurturing women-led businesses and positioning them as foundational to India’s economic future.
